Why Give?

Most of us want to spend our final days at home, in comfort and dignity, with those who love us. Pathways Hospice Foundation is dedicated to making sure that compassionate, skilled end-of-life care is available to patients and families facing advanced illness, death, and bereavement, regardless of their resources.  The Foundation is a part of the Pathways Home Health, Hospice, and Private Duty family
of services.

Established in 1991, Pathways Hospice Foundation is a not-for-profit, public benefit organization, supported by generous donations from individuals and organizations, as well a variety of fundraising events.  Community donations help in the following ways:

  • pay for care for those who lack insurance or whose insurance benefits
    are inadequate
  • support the Pathways KIDS program which provides palliative care to children with chronic and terminal illnesses
  • assist the Pathways On-Call Team, providing 24-hour, 7-days-a-week care
  • provide volunteer training to assist patients and families
  • ensure bereavement services for those left behind

In addition to supporting on-going programs and services, Pathways Hospice Foundation also works to create a stable financial future for Pathways.  Our endowment fund is a crucial part of this effort.  We also encourage individuals to include Pathways Hospice Foundation in their financial and estate plans.  These thoughtful gifts may be designated for current or future use, and in many cases provide significant tax advantages for the donor.

For over 30 years, Pathways has been an integral part of the Bay Area.  Pathways Hospice Foundation is honored to be a part of such a generous and compassionate community.  We are grateful to every donor for helping Pathways provide exceptional care to our families, friends and neighbors.

Everyone has unique financial considerations and different reasons for giving. Here are some of the many ways you can make a gift to Pathways.
Current Gifts
  • A gift of cash goes to work immediately. Automatic monthly or quarterly contributions through your credit card can add up to significant annual gifts that you may not be able to make in one payment, as well as providing Pathways Hospice Foundation with a planned stream of income.
  • Designating Pathways to receive memorial gifts to honor the memory of a cherished family member or friend is a special way to both remember and help others.
  • If your employer participates in a United Way campaign or other workplace giving campaign, you can support Pathways by designating the gift on your pledge card. 
  • Use your company’s matching gift program to double or triple your donation.
  • Gifts of appreciated securities or real estate generate extra tax benefits for you.
  • Become a corporate or personal sponsor of a Pathways event.
  • Join us at a special event – have fun and help Pathways raise funds and community awareness.

Make a Planned, Estate or Lifetime Gift to Pathways
  • Including a bequest in your will is a thoughtful and powerful way to make a gift to Pathways Hospice Foundation. Please talk with your legal and financial advisors about including a legacy to Pathways Hospice Foundation in your estate plans.
