Gifts Help Real People, Perhaps Someone You Know

Most of us want to spend our final days at home, in comfort and dignity, with those who love us. Pathways is dedicated to making sure that compassionate, comprehensive hospice services are available to all who need them, regardless of their resources, in their place of residence.

Your support helps keep Pathways programs alive and available to more people. Here are a few ways your gift can make a difference. It can:

  • Help kids with chronic or life-threatening illnesses, by bringing support and comfort to a five-year-old leukemia patient and his family through nurses, counselors, and volunteers with specialized training in pediatrics.
  • Care for families with limited resources. A father, laid-off from his job, and his children grieve the loss of their grandmother supported by care from Pathways.
  • Support access to advice and care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, making it possible for a wife to call at 3 a.m. about her husband’s frightening and unusual symptoms and get a visit from a nurse within the hour.
  • Support free bereavement programs for people of all ages, allowing a new widow to cope with the loss of her husband of 56 years.
  • Give caregivers advanced technology and other resources to increase patient comfort, such as enabling a home health worker to use a computer to quickly identify a patient’s drug allergy.
  • Train staff and volunteers, which will make it possible for a hospice nurse, trained in the latest alternative therapies to reduce pain for a cancer patient.
